[so ~67kcal, 8g protein per “slice” but it’s a bit short]
—The Recipe—
I made exactly half a batch of the original to test out so:
225g ground chicken, cooked
3 eggs
baking powder, baking soda, Italian herbs, salt
Followed her instructions exactly:
Blend all in a blender
Bake at ~400°F for ~30min until browned
—My Review—
First impressions were:
Looks promising
Smells like omelette
Slices well
Texture:
My crumb seemed a lot denser than hers, maybe more baking powder needed? Idk
Frittata-y
Taste:
Uh I think the biggest problem people will have is calling it “bread”
If you think of it as “meatloaf/chicken omelette” you’d be much less disappointed
Can taste the chicken & egg
Not bad esp if u use spices, I added some curry powder too.
Tasty for what it is! Just not bread
Overall thoughts:
easy to make, v few ingredients needed (I heard someone even used canned chicken and skipped the cooking chicken part)
zero carb
high protein, higher than if it were just an egg frittata which is higher in fat
sturdy enough to hold toppings
brother’s review: “I quite liked it. I can see it being used for savoury stuff like an egg mayo sandwich but pls don’t use it for my PB&J”
a bit of a hassle bc I’m not a fan of cleaning the blender but that’s just me lol
tad dry but good with spreads on it
not bread
Verdict: Nice to have an option like this if you’re doing keto/low carb (I’m not but I know some of you are, I gochuu). Also fun to just try out if you’re bored. Just don’t call it “bread” in your mind and you’ll be good.
